Sharing Groups
Introduction
The MSC’s Sharing Group libraries have agreed to take down walls and share collections for the benefit of their patrons. A patron whose library participates in a sharing group can place holds on items owned by other libraries in their group. Using a combination of mail and courier service, the item is delivered to the patron’s home library.
There are three sharing groups. The original group, called the MSC Partners Resource Sharing Group, was formed in 2004 and includes 38 member libraries and branches located throughout the state. The two other sharing groups are 4 Rivers Group with 10 members and Gallatin County Libraries (BridgerNet) with 5 members who share patrons within their geographical regions.
