Welcome
Welcome from the State Librarian of Montana, Darlene Staffeldt
At the Montana State Library, we know that by answering our state's diverse information needs, we empower Montana and all of our residents.
The Montana State Library enhances Montana's communities in easily recognizable ways. We meet the information needs of Montana government agency management and staff, and then ensure that all Montana citizens have access to information created by our government. We also support the role of all Montana libraries in answering the information needs of their own communities, and we work tirelessly to strengthen local community public libraries. The Montana State Library also ensures that Montanans who are blind or physically handicapped are provided access to library services. Through consulting, research assistance, superior service, and our dedication to providing information access, the Montana State Library strengthens community life for all Montanans.
While we provide a wide range of services, from mapping applications to reference services, from statewide databases to plant and animal field guides, our goal is simple: to provide Montanans with the information they need to move forward with their lives. Whether you visit us in person or online, we're here to serve you.
Welcome to your Montana State Library!
