Committees

Executive Committee

The Executive Committee is comprised of members from each type of library. These members represent the interests of other libraries in the consortium. The Executive Committee handles a lot of the business of the Montana Shared Catalog and presents proposals on costs, etc. to the full membership.

Cataloging Committee

The Cataloging Committee is responsible for advocating responsible cataloging practices within the Montana Shared Catalog. They publish the Cataloging Guidelines (doc), which are regularly reviewed and updated when necessary. They also provide training for MSC members and contribute to the MSC General Discussion List, the MSC Cataloging Discussion List, and the SirsiDynix Cataloging Discussion List. They can also make recommendations for enhancements to Unicorn based on general membership and committee discussion.

Circulation Committee

The Circulation Committee provides training and materials for Montana Shared Catalog libraries as well as standarized circulation guidelines. The group makes recommendations on basic circulation procedures and policies by which Montana Shared Catalog libraries operate.

OPAC Committee

The OPAC Committee oversees the Montana Shared Catalog's user experience with the catalog's interface used for searching and requesting materials. The group makes recommendations on the look and feel of the interface and use of available search tools.
