Introduction

Welcome to the "Montana Authors, A Bio-bibliography" web site. This data was compiled and provided to the Montana Library Network by Karen Hatcher from the University of Montana. We have provided three simple ways to locate a Montana Author.

  • Author Keyword
  • Title Keyword
  • Pseudonym Keyword
Author Search

To locate an Author using their biographical information, enter one of the following values into the "Author Keyword" search field and press enter. You only need to enter ONE word. For example, if you are looking for the author Rufus Markham Jones, you only need to enter "Rufus" and you will find the correct information.

  1. The Author's First, Middle, or Last Name
  2. Date of Birth
  3. Any part of the Author's Place of Birth (i.e. Sault, from Sault Ste. Marie, MI)
  4. The Author's Fathers' First, Middle, or Last Name
  5. The Author's Mothers' First or Maiden Name
Title Search
To locate an author by searching for one of their books, enter any ONE word from the title of the book into the "Title Keyword" search field and press enter. For example, if you are looking for the author of the book Joys and Sorrows of a Dry Land Ranch, you just need to enter ONE of the words in the title, say "Sorrows", and it will locate the proepr information.

Pseudonym Search
To locate an author from one of their Pseudonyms, enter any ONE word from an Author's Name that you believe is a pseudonym into the "Pseudonym Keyword" search field and press enter. For example, if you enter the last name Sabin into the "Pseudonym Keyword" search field, you will discover that the reall author's name is Norman Arnold Fox.
