Methodology - We used a combination of nationwide and statewide averages to identify the costs of the items in our Return on Investment Calculator. If a nationwide cost was available we used that figure, but if no nationwide figure was available we used a statewide average. This average was calculated by looking at the cost of an item in the major cities of Montana.
